We are a self-funded grassroots group. In recent years outside volunteers have had to reach into their personal bank accounts to fund the work of Inside Out. Every bit of money helps and we will make the most of every cent donated!
As of 2023, our annual costs are $7,500-$10,000. This allows us to send out over 1,500 newsletters to 380 people each year, and keep in regular correspondence with queer and trans people inside.
Most of our budget goes towards postage stamps, but also materials for letter writing, and birthday and Christmas cards. All of our organisers are unpaid volunteers and we get the newsletters printed for free.
The impact of your donations
- Every $1.50 is a letter we can post to someone inside
- $15 covers an incarcerated person’s newsletters for a year
- $40 covers a month’s worth of birthday cards
- $750 covers the cost of our festive season cards
- $1,500+ allows us to dream big to expand the projects we do at Inside Out (and earns our undying love and gratitude!)
We want to grow so that we can expand and take on bigger projects. Your donations will allow us to continue running the newsletter and to dream big.
